IFAK COMMEMORATED THE VICTIMS OF THE GENOCIDE AGAINST THE TUTSIS IN 1994 AT GISOZI MEMORIAL SITE

By Cyprien NIYOMWUNGERI

On this June 14th 2022, IFAK Students with Teachers and School Leaders paid a visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial to honour the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994., They were taken through the Rwandan story where Rwandans were united in the pre colonial period, after the colonial period the end result was that Rwandans were divided and an ideology of disharmony which later lead to a tragedic Genocide in 1994 was sown by a bad leadership that took the lead in that period. Students visited diffrent aspects of the Kigali Genocide Memorial and commited themselves to live in peace and harmony so that what happened will never again. Visiting a memorial is for students a good opportunity to learn the history with tangible evidences and better understand what they study during classes about history and citizenship
