Last weekend, the atmosphere at the IFAK (Institut Apostolique de Kimihurura) was electrifying as it hosted the final games of Amashuri Kagame Cup in various sporting disciplines including football, volleyball, handball, and basketball, both for boys and girls.
The event showcased IFAK’s unparalleled hospitality, setting a new standard among excellent schools. The awarding ceremony, held in the esteemed halls of IFAK, marked the culmination of intense competition and sportsmanship.
IFAK Volleyball team won the title and the first runner in Football. Despite falling short in the final, IFAK’s second-place finish secured its spot to represent Gasabo district alongside the triumphant APAER Men in football.
In Basketball, the final showdown between Riviera High School and ITS Kigali was fiercely contested, with ITS Kigali ultimately emerging as the district’s representative after a hard-fought battle.
APAER Rusororo emerged as the shining star of the tournament, clinching victories in both boys’ and girls’ categories and lifting the coveted trophies.
Every participating team was awarded balls, a gesture aimed at fostering continued practice and skill development among players. Following the awards, coordinators engaged in meaningful conversations with players, imparting moral lessons gleaned from the games and expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers.
In a heartfelt address, IFAK’s headmaster and the head coordinator of the Amashuri Kagame Cup in Gasabo district, Rev.Father Ntirenganya Jean Bosco, expressed gratitude to all participants and highlighted the importance of strong preparation in achieving success.
With eyes set on future competitions, the hope of bringing trophies from Uganda’s Feassa (Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations) burned bright.
