The first floor will have five classrooms, computer laboratory and store.
Rev. Father Jean Bosco Ntirenganya, the Director of IFAK Don Bosco Kimihurura, explained that the construction project is in line with celebrating the 60th anniversary of IFAK. It is an opportune time to move forward with rehabilitation and expansion.
“It’s a significant project aimed at expanding and rehabilitating the IFAK premises, many of which are 60 years old. It is also in line with Salesian education, which strives to create a conducive environment for students and their teachers. We firmly believe that an optimal environment is the catalyst for fostering excellence in work. ” Rev. Father said.
“As Kigali City is developing, we don’t want to lag behind. The education sector is also progressing rapidly, and we want to keep pace with those changes and developments. This project will leave us with a magnificent image in infrastructure.”
The construction project will provide IFAK Don Bosco with an additional eight spacious and modern classrooms, two computer labs with high standards, science laboratory rooms, and modern toilets.
In response to parents’ requests, IFAK Don Bosco plans to renovate old facilities, allowing the school to increase the number of boys in boarding. The administration of IFAK is also planning to establish a boarding facility for girls.
“We already have classrooms, but we need to increase their number so that we can better serve our many stakeholders who are interested in enrolling their children in this school. It is planned that next year, this building will be completed and put to use,” Rev. Father Ntirenganya added.
IFAK Don Bosco has been operating since 1964, serving the nation through education and evangelization of the young people. Actually, the school has both ordinary level and Advanced level. In advanced level the school has five combinations namely PCM (Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics), MCB (Mathematics –Chemistry-Biology), MCE (Mathematics-Computer Science-Economics), MEG (Mathematics-Economics-Geography) and MPC (Mathematics-Physics-Computer Science).
IFAK as an Educational Institution, wants to provide to the young people a wide opportunity to develop holistic knowledge and skills, to acquire a positive attitude and a critical thinking, which will help them to be competitive at the labor market, contributing thus to the social and political life of our country.
